America's Cup-style excitement at Bermuda's Fairmont Hamilton Princess hotel

Harley’s Restaurant and Terrace offers ringside seats at Fairmont Hamilton Princess resort in Bermuda.

Hamilton, Bermuda (October 18, 2004) - This past summer, Harley’s Restaurant and Terrace in Bermuda sponsored the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club’s Wednesday Night Sailing Regatta, held every Wednesday evening. With the start-finish line off The Fairmont Hamilton Princess terrace, guests have been able to appreciate the tightly contested races from this ringside seat.

Although the Wednesday night series ended in September, the sailing continues October 16 to 24, 2004, as world-class sailors compete for the King Edward VII Gold Cup Trophy, hosted by the nearby Royal Bermuda Yacht Club.

First raced in 1937, the King Edward VII Gold Cup Trophy is the oldest match race event held in one-design yachts and the $100,000 prize money is hotly contested. This year’s participants include Russell Coutts, Dennis Conner, and last year’s winner, Peter Gilmour. With The Fairmont Hamilton Princess’ unique location and Hamilton Harbor as an arena, you can’t get any closer to America’s Cup-style excitement.

Located on spectacular Hamilton Harbor, The Fairmont Hamilton Princess has a long tradition with the ocean. Dating back to the 1930s, hotel staff dressed in white jackets and lined the terrace waving pink handkerchiefs to welcome visitors on ocean liners as they sailed past The Princess into the harbor. Guests can continue the tradition today and enjoy sailing at its finest while indulging in alfresco dining at Harley’s Restaurant and Terrace.

The Fairmont Hamilton Princess, Bermuda’s only luxury urban resort, overlooks the harbor and is within easy walking distance to the island’s best shopping, galleries and bistros.
