Pure indulgence at The Palms

New Turks and Caicos boutique resort takes luxury to the next level

Turks and Caicos (December 13, 2004) – The Palms, an ultra-luxurious boutique resort, opens in January 2005 on the Turks and Caicos island of Providenciales. With a philosophy that anything is possible, indulgence is the key word here.

This 12-acre, lushly landscaped estate is located at the center of world-renowned Grace Bay Beach, voted most romantic beach in the world by Caribbean Travel and Life and best beach in the world by Condé Nast. The 72 two- and three-bedroom guest suites are just steps away from the beach housed in five separate buildings clad in Barbadian coral stone. With more than 1,800 square feet of luxurious living space, each suite features marble floors, milled crown mouldings, wainscoting, vaulted ceilings, and custom-made mahogany furnishings.

Guest rooms feature hand-tufted king or queen bedding, custom-made 450-count Egyptian cotton bed linens and towels, Acqua di Parma toiletries, hydro-massage bathtub, separate marble shower, and a private water closet. High-speed Internet access, flat-screen TVs, DVD and CD players, a selection of films and music CDs, and 57 channels of cable television offer a range of entertainment possibilities.

Already inundated with bookings, this posh resort boasts a $1.8 million serpentine infinity pool with underwater music and a hot tub island in its center. Guests can lounge in terry-covered chaise lounges while sipping tropical sorbets and checking e-mail thanks to Wi-Fi around the pool area. Sun worshippers can bronze themselves in the comfort of sun pods, which rotate to face the sun, while listening to their complimentary-use iPod minis as a selection of aromatherapy mists fill the air. At the pool bar and restaurant guests can dine at the water banquette without exiting the pool or al fresco on the sunken terrace, which is surrounded by a waterfall and garden.

A 15,000-square-foot spa services clients in stand-alone treatment rooms surrounded by water, each with their own water feature by day and fire feature by night. Treatments incorporate native herbs, fruits, and the high-salinity waters of the Turks and Caicos Islands. A yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi studio overlooks the heart of the spa, a 150-foot central water garden flanked by majestic date palms. Along with a full range of treatments, the spa offers water-based therapies, a full-service salon, traditional men’s barbershop, fitness center, and an elegant hair salon. For the ultimate in relaxation, many spa treatments can be taken in the privacy of one’s guest room, indoors or on the outdoor travertine terrace.

The centerpiece of The Palms is The Great House, the social hub of the resort, which houses a 2,000-square-foot ballroom, concierge services, and the resort’s signature restaurant.

The casually elegant Parallel 23 restaurant incorporates organic and local ingredients to serve up a fusion of tastes from Asia, India, Mexico, Morocco and the Caribbean. A state-of-the-art display kitchen includes a wood-burning oven, wok station, and tandoori oven. The elegant bar is an ideal setting for enjoying pre-dinner cocktails, sipping the world’s finest liquors after dinner, or enjoying a late-evening vintage rum and fine cigar, either indoors or out.

Rounding out the plush offerings of this luxurious resort is Clefs d’Or concierge services and an office suite with high-speed Internet stations, telefax, and copying services. A series of underground tunnels allows guest services to occur unobtrusively and completely out of view of the guests. At The Palms, anything is possible.
