St Kitts, part of the Federation of St Kitts & Nevis, is a 69-square-mile volcanic island in the Eastern Caribbean with a central mountain range rising to almost 4000 feet above sea level. The average daily temperature is 79 degrees F (26 degrees C), average rainfall 59 inches per annum and the soil a rich loam. This combination of topographic, climatic and pedologic features created the fertile conditions that caused the indigenous Caribs to call the island “Liamuiga,” and continue to create the lush natural beauty for which St Kitts is so well known today. Add this to the increasing variety of activities and accommodation types that are emerging on the island, and you have the makings of a perfect vacation spot.
