Tournament set for August 18-19 at the Temenos Golf Club

Anguilla, British West Indies (April 2007) – The first ever Anguilla Golf Classic will take place August 18 and 19 at the Temenos Golf Club. Designed by Greg Norman, the 18-hole championship course is one of the Caribbean’s newest and most exciting courses, and the first for the island. Special hotel rates and an inclusive golf and hospitality package are an attractive lure for golf aficionados to play on the exclusive course.

The competition will take the form of a four-person-team scramble. Registration for the event is $595 for local golfers and $695 for overseas golfers and includes two rounds of golf, breakfast and lunch on the first day, breakfast and awards lunch on the second day and player’s gift pack. The competition features up to one million dollars in prize money with four chances to win $250,000 for any player who makes a hole in one on any of the four par three’s.

Several of the island’s renowned luxury hotels are offering excellent discounted rates for players: Cap Juluca, Cuisinart Resort & Spa, Malliouhana Hotel & Spa and Sheriva at Sheraton Estates are all offering a special rate of $400 per night, including tax and service. Paradise Cove Resort and Ku are offering a rate of $200 per night, including service.

The Anguilla Golf Classic is a fundraiser for the Health Authority of Anguilla (HAA). Monies raised will be used to equip a much-needed intensive care unit and a second operating theatre for Anguilla.
