The two cottages at Te Moana share a landscaped 1-acre waterfront lot with owner Peter Proudlock's home. Only one mile from the centre of Ocho Rios, yet a world away, Te Moana offers a quiet and romantic haven from which to escape the real world.

The cottages come with fully equipped kitchens, appliances, crockery, cutlery, 100% cotton sheets and towels, and hot water.

The property is perched on a cliff 30 ft above the Caribbean Sea. The garden has a cliffside deck with a bench for relaxing sundowners. Steps lead down to the grotto, and a bridge which leads you to the lower deck and sandy swimming area. The adjacent reef provides shelter from the waves and interesting snorkelling - we have equipment available for use. Complimentary single and double kayaks, as well as a new paddleboard, are a fun way to explore the coastline. Passing fishing canoes offer a motorised alternative. There are sunbathing/sunset-watching and yoga decks just above the sea. Four reasonably well-behaved dogs and four rather shy cats provide the requisite security, but will not intrude unless invited. There are two well-stocked grocery stores, and a beach within easy walking distance.

There are attractions for every taste in and around Ocho Rios: the world famous Dunns River Falls, golf (at nearby Upton or Runaway Bay, 30 minutes), swimming with dolphins, parasailing, scuba diving, riding, canopy and plantation tours, Noel Cowards Firefly, and duty-free shopping to mention a few. Obviously, we want our guests to visit our own Harmony Hall (3 miles /4.8 km), the north coasts leading art and craft gallery.

It is also home to the areas best restaurant Toscaninis, an Italian gem, which even our Italian neighbour concedes is excellent. Passage to India, is exceptional, while the popular Spring Garden offers a variety of seafood. The best jerk is to be found at Scotchies in Drax Hall. We recommend Soldier's and Miss T's Kitchen for authentic Jamaican food. There are several fast food franchises and patty shops.

Staying at Te Moana is like staying with family without the obligations. You can do whatever you want, but help is always available if you need it.
