Set on the Flamands Bay, widely regarded as the island's finest, the iconic Cheval Blanc St-Barth Isle de France is home to 40 beautifully appointed rooms, suites and villas, with panoramic beach views or nestled in the lush gardens.
Climate
Blue skies, light offshore breezes cooling the tropical sun with average year round temperatures of 28 degrees C. The summer months rarely get above 32 degrees. Tropical showers may give you a break from the heat of the day but they tend to last no more than ten minutes. The climate is generally dry except for September and October when rainfall is slightly heavier.
Flora
A wide variety of Tropical flowers and plants decorate St Barthelemy although there are no rainforests due to its dry climate. Banana, Coconut, Latanier and travel palms are most frequently seen. The gardens are abundant with Bougainvilleas, Ixoras, Birds of Paradise, Hibiscus, Anturiums, Alpinias and Laurier.
Fauna
The aquatic life round St Barths includes lobster, dorade, barracuda, turtles and rays as well as a variety of multicoloured tropical fish but the highlight has to be the migrating whales and dolphins in the spring months of April and May. Terrestrial animals are mostly varieties of lizards and iguanas but the bird life is quite varied from fregates and pelicans to finches and humming birds

the greatest concentration of shops can be found in Gustavia, the local capital, and also in St Jean where several commercial centres can be found. Shopping ranges from high fashion to local arts and gifts.

Travel to St Barths
There are daily flights from all major U.S. and Canadian cities through St Martin, and from London to Antigua. From Paris, there are 5 flights via St Martin or daily flights via Pointe-a-Pitre. The connecting flight to St Barths from St Martin can be made with local commercial companies such as Air Caraibe and Winair, as well as St Barth Commuter for private flights. Please note that aeroplanes cannot land after sunset, which is either 17h30 or 18h30 depending on the season. If you prefer alternative methods of transport, you can come by boat on the Voyager from St Martin and there are, of course, private boats to transfer you to and from St Martin.
Formalities
Being a French island, St Barths requires only an identity card for members of the EU unless you wish to visit the neighbouring islands where passports are required. Citizens from outside the EU must have a passport and a return ticket with a stay of no longer than three months.
Vaccinations
None required. Animals: no problems as long as they have a health certificate.
Currency
Official currency: the Euro. The US dollar is also accepted on the island
Time delay
Paris is 6 hours ahead of St Barths in the summer and 5 hours ahead in the winter. New York is on the same time as St Barths in the winter and 1 hour behind in summer. London is 5 hours ahead in summer and 4 hours ahead in winter.
