Located just 6 km from the city center of Paramaribo and built in the late 1940?s by the Rice Company ?Stichting Machinale Landbouw? to be an apartment building for the family of the Dutch agricultural engineers and was bought by Mr. Arend Veninga in 1967.
Mr. Veninga started to rebuild the apartment building into a hotel in 1970 and gave it the name River- Club Motel. Due to the development of the east- west route a lot of French made use of this Hotel.
The following years he expanded the hotel with a restaurant, swimming pool, play- garden, tennis courts and a discoth?que Blue Bell.
Due to the fact that a lot of people got the name confused as if it was a private hotel only for members Mr. Veninga changed the name of the Hotel in the 1980?s into what is now Hotel Stardust.
