Auberge Seraphine is a quaint St. Lucia Hotel located in Castries on the northwest coast of the island. Perched right on beautiful Vielle Bay across from the cruise port, it is extremely popular with business travelers because it has free WiFi, it is literally 2 minutes away from SLU airport and although it is right around the corner from Castries, it is quietly hidden away from the busy traffic of the city. Auberge Seraphine goes mostly unnoticed by most vacationers on the island because there is no beach, but more and more are discovering that a one or two night stay-over during their vacation to the island is worth the stop. The rates at Auberge Seraphine are a fraction of what other hotels charge and none provide such an authentic local experience. Not to mention that the restaurant at Auberge Seraphine draws visitors from all over the island and is normally packed for lunch and dinner. Reservations are recommended.
Built from nothing by her father in 1993, this small hotel is run by Pamela Joseph, a local St. Lucian well known on the island for her hospitality. You will see her doing just about everything at the hotel from checking guests in to arranging the flowers on the tables in the restaurant. The hotel is completely surrounded by lush greenery and in fact the road that leads to the hotel is completely shaded by the thick foliage above. There is a pond that separates the hotel from the bay which is filled with lillypads and large pink flowers. What?s most noticeable about this pond is that it is home to hundreds of Egrets (large peaceful white birds) which crowd the trees all day long. At night they all quietly sleep in the trees and there are so many of them that they almost look like tropical Christmas trees. There is something very relaxing about watching the sun set behind the sailboats in Vielle Bay while enjoying a delicious dinner in the open air restaurant and gazing out at the local wildlife and the cruise ships sailing in and out of port.
