Anguilla's Beaches
Anguilla is known for some of the World's best beaches, both on the main Island and on its many uninhabited offshore Cays and Islands. Island Harbour Beach, at the Arawak is tranquil and offers good swimming. Guests can stroll or jog- the beach's several hundred yards length to Island Harbour's Jetty, where fishermen offer fresh fish for sale. . Shoal Bay East, perhaps Anguilla's most famous beach and rated amongst the top ten in the World, is more developed with several restaurants and bars. It is about ten minutes from the Arawak. Other favorites include Sandy Ground, Rendezvous Bay, and, by boat, Little Bay, Sandy Island, and the Prickly Pear Cays. The closest offshore beaches to The Arawak are Scilly Cay (100 yards in front of the Arawak), and our own favorite, Scrub Island. This is about 10 minutes away by boat. It has absolutely fabulous beaches, and usually our guests have them entirely to themselves.

About Anguilla
Just north of the island of St.Martin lies the small Caribbean Island of Anguilla. A quiet island, it has survived the vast commercialization that most of the larger Caribbean islands possess.

Only 35 square miles with a population of less than 10,000, Anguilla offers some of the world's finest accommodations in both resorts and villas. Anguilla's beaches are world renown and second to none. This island offers a vast selection of international dining experiences and plenty of outdoor activities. One of the most unique attributes of Anguilla is the friendliness and hospitality of its people. You will not find more friendly and hospitable people anywhere in the Caribbean.

Anguilla is the most northerly of the Leeward Islands in the Eastern Caribbean (Latitude - 18 N, Longitude - 63 W). The average temperature is about 80.

Reviews
"Built on the site of an ancient Arawak village and only minutes from beautiful Shoal Bay Beach, this comfortable and inviting family-run hotel is a good value (for pricey Anguilla, anyway), especially during the summer months. It opens onto views of Scilly Cay and Captains Ridge. It offers studios and one-bedroom suites in octagonal-shaped buildings. Beachfront units are built in the style of a re-created Amerindian village and are equipped with wet bars and coffeemakers, plus large balconies or terraces. Furnishings are comfortable and include king-size beds, plus small bathrooms, each with a shower. The rather formal restaurant features a good Continental and Caribbean menu." - FROMMER'S CARIBBEAN

"An excellent choice for a low-key, funky Anguillian respite is this intimate gem. These breezy hexagonal two-story villas sing with island warmth and color. The pricier units on the top floors are more spacious, a bit quieter, and enjoy spectacular view of the rocky shores of boat-dotted Island Harbor and beyond to Scilly Key. Some rooms have large four-poster rattan beds, some have kitchenettes. Most aren't air-conditioned, and those that are cost more, but the harbor breezes are usually sufficiently cooling. The inn's manager, Maria will make you feel like one of the family by the time you leave. Mix your own drinks at the bar or, if Maurice is on the island, have him mix you the best Bloody Mary anywhere. The Arawak Cafe, splashed in psychedelic colors, serves chef Maude's special pizzas and lip-smacking Caribbean comfort food. The restaurant/lounge/pool area has wireless internet connectivity, and a small private cove with a sandy beach is just a five minute walk." - FODOR'S CARIBBEAN

"My family and I just returned from 5 nights at the Arawak Beach Inn. It was by far the most enjoyable visit of any of our many Caribbean island trips. Maria and her children brought style, class, pleasure, and quality to our stay which can be uncommon in other Caribbean establishments. I recommend the Arawak for anyone who desires a comfortable, clean and fun place to stay while visiting Anguilla. Maria was so quick and professional when responding to any request that we brought to her. Give the Arawak a tray and you will not be disappointed." - MICHAEL, PAMELA, and CHELSEA, Batesville MS
