Press Release 2012

Park Hyatt Development, a Boost to St. Kitts Tourism

Agreement to Develop Luxury Hotel on the Island's Southeast Peninsula

Press Release 2012

Basseterre, St. Kitts (July 12, 2012) - At a well-attended media event on July 10th at The Park Hyatt in Dubai, Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas of St. Kitts & Nevis proudly announced the launch of plans to develop a luxurious Park Hyatt hotel on St. Kitts.

Slated to open in the winter of 2014/15, the development agreement was signed among Range Developments, a Dubai-based affiliate developer of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, and Kiawah Partners, the owners of Christophe Harbour where the future Park Hyatt will be located.

The Government of St. Kitts & Nevis has designated the planned development as an "Approved Project for Citizenship-by-Investment" as an added incentive to potential investors in order to help raise much-needed private equity for the US $150 Million project.

Senator Ricky Skerritt, Minister of Tourism & International Transport told the enthusiastic Dubai media audience that the addition of Hyatt's most luxurious brand, Park Hyatt, to St. Kitts' existing room inventory will represent a boost for St. Kitts tourism and another significant step forward in raising the standards of the island's overall tourism product.

"With its appeal to our target visitor - the affluent, experiential traveler - Park Hyatt will not only add much needed hotel rooms on St. Kitts, but it will also raise the profile of our destination within the overall travel market, while creating good jobs and ultimately helping to improve the quality of life for our citizens," Skerritt said.

Upon completion, Park Hyatt St. Kitts will feature 200 hotel rooms and 50 branded residential condominiums set within Christophe Harbour, the 2,500-acre master planned community currently under development on St. Kitts' southeast peninsula.

Phase one of construction will include the completion of 125 hotel guest rooms, two food and beverage outlets, a fitness center, a 12-treatment room spa and more than 7,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space.

The second phase of construction will include the completion of the 75 remaining guest rooms and a third food and beverage outlet. Dewan Architects will be responsible for the hotel's architecture. The only other Park Hyatt branded hotel currently in the Caribbean is under development in Bermuda.

Park Hyatt St. Kitts will be situated just 15 minutes from the island's Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport at picturesque Banana Bay, which boasts an unspoilt white sand beach with spectacular views over the water toward Nevis.

In accordance with the island's commitment to sustainability, the project will be developed to protect the land and sea in ways both sensitive and harmonious to the environment, featuring a range of natural settings.
