Golf With the Pros in St. Kitts & Nevis

Third Annual Admiral's Cup Pro-Am Tournament Tees Off January 13-17, 2013

Press Release 2012

Basseterre, St. Kitts (August 13, 2012) - Teams of professional and amateur golfers will tee off on St. Kitts & Nevis this winter for the Third Annual St. Kitts-Nevis Admiral's Cup Pro-Am Tournament, which will be held from January 13 - 17, 2013. It is the only golf event that is hosted simultaneously by two Caribbean islands featuring play on two world-class courses.

"This annual event is helping us to build our destination awareness efforts as St. Kitts & Nevis continues to develop as a world-class, twin-island golf destination," said Senator Ricky Skerritt, Minister of Tourism & International Transport. "With the stunning hillside Ian Woosnam championship course scheduled to open at Kittitian Hill in a few months' time, and the soon to be constructed Tom Fazio championship course at Christophe Harbour on St. Kitts' picturesque southeast peninsula, we are well-positioned to further build our golf tourism niche market."

The 3-day, 54-hole tournament will feature Pro-Am golf teams competing for group and individual prizes on two of the Caribbean's most scenic and challenging courses, the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club and the Four Seasons Resort Nevis Golf Club. Rounds one and three will be played on the links-style Royal St. Kitts Golf Club, an 18-hole course managed by Marriott Golf. This sea-side course was first designed by Peter Thompson in 1975 and then redesigned by Thomas McBroom in 2003.

Its unique layout offers holes on both the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. It was the first Caribbean golf course to earn Audubon Certification for its environmental practices and is a natural haven for both native and migratory birds.

Round two will be played at the Four Seasons Resort in Nevis, featuring the par 71, 18-hole Robert Trent Jones II designed championship mountain-side course that overlooks the Caribbean Sea and St. Kitts with a spectacular beach-side finishing 18th green. St. Kitts & Nevis are separated at the closest point by a 2-mile wide channel and travel between the two islands is just over half an hour by ferry service.

Each team will be comprised of one host professional plus three amateurs. Registration for the Pro-Am tournament is currently open for club professionals as well as amateurs and guests. Two entry packages for either four or seven nights are available along with non-golfing guest packages and include amenities such as round-trip airport and ferry transfers, breakfast and lunch daily, tournament gifts and prizes, on-course refreshments, spa treatments and more.

All players and guests will enjoy the hospitality and renowned service of the St. Kitts Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino, the host hotel for the event. The Admiral's Cup Pro-Am is managed by The Golf Connection and supported by the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, the St. Kitts Marriott Resort and the Four Seasons Resort Nevis.
