Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced the debut of its Four Points by Sheraton brand in Punta Cana, only minutes away from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). It features 124 comfortable rooms, an outdoor pool, access to five miles of private beach, state-of-the-art meeting facilities, a 24-hour business center, a fitness center, and full-service dining. It is the first of two hotels Starwood will open this year in Dominican Republic.
Winter Baseball Season Starts in Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League's (LIDOM) winter season is underway, consisting of six teams spread across the country: aguilas Cibaeas in Santiago, Estrellas Orientales in San Pedro de Macors, Gigantes del Cibao in San Francisco de Macors, Toros del Este in La Romana, and Leones del Escogido and Tigres del Licey in Santo Domingo. 3rd Annual Dominican Republic Golf Open
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana will host the 3rd Annual Dominican Republic Golf Open Nov. 5-11, which is sponsored by the Dominican Federation of Golf. The 144 golfers playing in the professional division will play at the 18-hole golf course, Cana Bay Golf Club, which was designed by Jack Nicklaus. The course is surrounded by breathtaking scenery, and the fairways and greens are beautifully maintained. Players are competing for a grand prize of $125,000.
