The fun never sets in The Bahamas, least of all in New Providence. Whether it be a romantic evening of dining by candlelight, getting caught in the exciting rhythm of Junkanoo or dancing the night away at a hot nightclub, You?ll find something here to fill your wish.

Vibrant colours, frenetic dancing and wild rhythms light up the night at Café Johnny Canoe located at Nassau Beach Hotel on Cable Beach.

Every Friday at 8pm, patrons can enjoy a Junkanoo ?rush-out? at this lively indoor-outdoor restaurant. On Friday and Saturday, they experience an evening of Bahamian and Caribbean music courtesy of Herbie and Da Crew from 7:30pm-12 midnight.

Also located next to the Nassau Beach Hotel is the popular King & Knights a native show and dance club which features highly energetic performances Monday through Saturday. Admission is $25 for the show, which includes fire dancing, Junkanoo dancing, singing, acrobatics and flaming hoop demonstrations. An evening pass, $45, includes the show and a three-course meal. Dinner is served at 7:30pm; the show starts at 8:30pm.

The Blue Marlin also offers a native show, with fire dancing, flaming limbo and live Calypso music at 8:30pm Tuesday to Sunday.

The action continues downtown at Señor Frog?s, next to the British Colonial Hilton. Overlooking Nassau Harbour, this unique Mexican-themed restaurant and bar features karaoke seven nights a week. The band New Sensation performs Tuesday, Friday and Saturday starting at 9pm. Cover charge is $35 after 9pm, admission is $5 for hotel and cruise ship guests showing a hotel or ship key.

Across from to the British Colonial Hilton on Marlborough Street is Conch Fritters where guests can dine on excellent Bahamian and American cuisine while enjoying live Bahamian music by Just Friends Thursday through Sunday starting at 7pm.

Looking for some good old rock ?n roll? Charlotte Street may be just the ticket as it is home to the world-famous Hard Rock Cafe. Patrons can admire memorabilia of their favourite rock stars of yesterday and today while enjoying a variety of American and Bahamian dishes. A live band performs rock ?n roll Fridays starting at 10pm. Cover charge is $5. Saturday is karaoke night starting at 8pm.

Ticket to paradise

Venture across the bridge to Paradise Island and you?ll discover a treasure trove of nighttime entertainment.

The Oasis Lounge at Club Land?Or features live calypso and island music by The Energizers, Tuesday through Sunday starting at 7pm.

Live jazz, R&B and popular Bahamian favourites can be heard at Columbus Tavern, at Paradise Harbour Club & Marina, Friday through Sunday from 7-10pm.

Atlantis offers every kind of evening entertainment imaginable. For a romantic evening with class, visit Five Twins Rum & Cigar Bar featuring nightly performances by singer Pat Rolle from 6-11pm. Reservations are recommended. Enjoy a variety of music by the Tony Seymour Duo, specializing in calypso, Top 40 and golden oldies at Plato?s indoor/outdoor coffee and cocktail bar, Thursday through Saturday from 9pm-1am. Be sure to arrive early at Jokers Wild Comedy Club in the Coral Towers if you?re looking for an evening to tickle your funny-bone. Local comics and visiting comedians from the US and Canada take to the stage at 9:30pm, Tuesday through Sunday. Admission is $20 for general seating.

Enchanted evening

For those seeking an evening of romantic ambience and dinner by candlelight, look no further than these enchanting haunts.

Chez Willie, on West Bay Street, just west of the British Colonial Hilton, features live music by pianist Joe Winder on Friday and Saturday nights, and contemporary favourites by Rusty Armbrister Tuesday through Thursday, starting at 7pm.

Patrons at Buena Vista can enjoy fine dining accompanied with music by pianist David Evans from 7-10:30pm Tuesday through Saturday. East Villa features light piano music by Philip McPhee from 7-11pm, Monday through Saturday.

Graycliff, Montagu Gardens and Black Angus Grille at the Wyndham Nassau Resort also offer contemporary and classical piano music to accompany fine dining.

Jazz it up

For sophisticated music and an ambience just as refined, visit the Piano Bar at Villaggio. Tucked away in Caves Village on West Bay Street, Villaggio offers live music by a five-piece band specializing in contemporary rhythms and soft jazz Thursday through Saturday starting at 10pm.

Jazz, blues and soul fans will definitely want to swing by the Blue Note Lounge at the British Colonial Hilton. Unwind in softly lit comfort and enjoy live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

Chill out to relaxing vibes at The Living Room in the Nassau Beach Hotel. Sip cocktails and drink in the sounds of the live band on Friday and Saturday nights.

Slip away from the flurry of casino activity and into relaxing surroundings at The Stage Lounge at the Wyndham Nassau Resort. Enjoy live music courtesy of Dream Quest, a three-piece band that plays a little bit of everything including your requests, Tuesday through Sunday starting at 9pm.

Mix and mingle

There?s plenty of nightlife to soak up well past the midnight hour. Party until the sun comes up at an energetic nightclub or mingle with Bahamians at a friendly after-hours bar.

Fluid Lounge on Bay Street features two separate areas where club-goers can mix and mingle. The exclusive VIP section features a lounge area and bar where patrons can relax with a cocktail and enjoy sophisticated hip-hop, reggae and jazz. Directly below the VIP area is the dance floor, where you can dance to Top 40 hits, local Bahamian favourites and club sounds. General admission is $15 before 12 midnight, $20 after. Admission to the VIP area is $25. The club is open Thursday through Sunday at 10pm.

The Drop Off Pub, also located on Bay Street, features a live disco and serves food until 6am. Patrons can dance the night away to a variety of popular hits seven days a week.

Other popular nightclubs include Bahama Boom, The Zoo Nightclub, Cocktails & Dreams, Club Waterloo, Dragons nightclub at Atlantis, Club 601 and Hurricanes Disco at SuperClubs Breezes.

Nightclubs not your scene? Then wet your whistle at a casual bar.

The Green Parrot at Hurricane Hole Marina on Paradise Island features a three-piece band playing everything from rock n? roll to reggae on Saturdays and Sundays starting at 6pm. There is no cover charge.

Crocodiles, on East Bay Street, is a breezy island bar and restaurant, popular with both visitors and locals. It is completely outdoors, overlooking Nassau Harbour, with thatched tiki huts and wooden furniture. Top 40s background music keeps the atmosphere lively. Happy hour is 4-7:30pm, seven days a week.
