Bermuda Hosts PGA Grand Slam

Bermuda's turquoise waters provide the perfect backdrop for a spectacular game.

Press Release 2012

Bermuda (October 24, 2012) - The annual PGA Grand Slam of Golf brings the winners of the four major golf championships together to tee off in the sport's greatest off-season tournament.

There's no place better to host this exciting event than Bermuda, which has held that honour since 2007. Besides the excellent conditions and quality golf, Bermuda's pristine green courses, rolling hills, and views of the Atlantic's turquoise waters provide the perfect backdrop for a spectacular game.

The three-day event kicks off with a Pro-Am and Champions' clinic on Monday. The excitement continues Tuesday and Wednesday, where you can be in front of the action with what David calls the greatest ticket in golf, which gets spectators an incredible up close and personal experience inside the ropes.

Picture this: You're walking right down the middle of that fairway alongside golf's major champions, says David. The entire course winds around the clubhouse, which sits on top of a hill for an excellent vantage point. There are only a few holes where you cannot see the ocean at Port Royal. David adds, "Whether you are on the bay or ocean side, the scenery is just outstanding." With the sun still shining warm mixed with a bit of a cooler ocean breeze, there is no better place to be than on top of the Atlantic in Bermuda this October.

The 2012 PGA Grand Slam of Golf was held October 22-24 at Port Royal Golf Course, which has hosted the event for the past four years. The top four golfers included 2012 Masters Champion Bubba Watson and 2012 U.S. Open Champion Webb Simpson, making their rookie appearances.

Joining them was Keegan Bradley, the 2011 PGA Champion and defending champion of last year?s PGA Grand Slam of Golf. Finally, 2008 PGA Champion Padraig Harrington stepped up as a last minute replacement for Ernie Els.

And what a game of golf it was! Congratulations to Padraig Harrington, crowned the PGA Grand Slam of Golf winner after edging out Simpson by a shot. Harrington had played in Bermuda in 2007 and 2008 previously for PGA Grand Slam of Golf, so third time was the charm in his case.

Didn't get a chance to be part of the action? Come experience golf in Bermuda with our Golf Around Getaway offering a hotel stay with play at some of the island?s world-class golf courses, where you?ll get a stunning side of views with your set of clubs.
