Very disappointing

Upon arriving there was no air conditioning, and shortly after discovered there was no water. The owner called in an air conditioning specialist to correct the problem. Around midnight while waiting on two other vacation friends to arrive, I text them both to forewarn them of the no-water situation. After they arrived, we witnessed a water truck pull up thinking that problem too would be corrected. Waking the next morning, there was still no water, but a bunch of angry women.
The showering arrangements were slim due to no water. I personally attained several buckets of water from the swimming pool just to flush the toilet. We used bottled water to brush our teeth, but the problems did not stop there. Shortly after scrambling around, the electricity went out. This made our living situation much more confusing due to the fact that moneys spent on food items went to waste. Food that had been purchased eventually spoiled and had to be thrown out. Days passed and there were still problems with the water and the electricity at times.
It seems we would have one without the other and vice versa. I spoke with Gloria about the situations that were occurring and asked if it continued to accommodate us in another location if the problems continued. Surprisingly she said no and that they would try to work on the problems. Again, the problems weren't solved. On Saturday, three of us women put moneys together and made reservations at the Breezes for Monday until Thursday, the end of our vacation. Unfortunately, I withdrew my money because up to this point it was more than I could afford for those three days.
I was only able to stay one comfortable night without the stresses of there being no water or electricity. Much to my surprise, what should have been a first time dream vacation became horrific due to the circumstances. I worked extremely hard to save the money for this vacation and ended up spending much more than I anticipated for my discomfort. I feel prior arrangements should have been made with these problems knowingly occurring. Because arrangements weren't made, and with Gloria declining to honor my request for accommodations, I strongly feel that restitution should be made payable to us. Better business ethics should have been in place, but unfortunately was not. As it has been said, it takes one month to retain a customer, but only one minute to lose them! Disappointing Stay @ Chateau Gloria

Eagerly, we planned and looked forward to coming to Jamaica. Excitment grew even greater, when I found the Chateau Gloria. It was elegant and could accommodate all of my guests.
Upon arriving on 19 June 2008 at the Chateau Gloria, three of the seven rooms were w/o air conditioning. One of those three rooms were mine. Gloria called an air repair man and that problem was corrected.
Friday morning (20 June 2008) we awoke to NO water. Gloria blamed it on someone hitting a pipe in the road. Needless to say, my guests and I were very upset. Several of them voiced their concerns to her. Before we left for Ocho Rios, she was running a garden hose to her water tank. After spending all day in Ocho Rios - we returned around 10 pm - AND STILL NO WATER!!!! Gloria said that it would be up in 10-15 minutes. After waiting nearly an hour, we went to bed filthy and extremely uncomfortable!
Because of the water situation, we were dumping water from the pool to flush the toilets.
Saturday morning (21 June 2008) at 6:30am - we arise and still no water!!! At this point, we are knocking (rather loudly) on all access doors to Gloria. She refuses to answer. Instead, she sends her boyfriend "Street" upstairs to deal with us. He catches the brunt of our frustration and is nearly in tears. Many hours later, Gloria appears and blames the situation on the Government of Jamaica. As I am now expressing my concerns, I inquired about a refund, in which she replied "there would be none."
Around 8pm that night, a water truck appeared and began filling up her tank. Once the water tank was filled - we did not encounter any more water problems until Tuesday or Wednesday. On several occassions the electricity went out. This was also blamed on the Government of Jamaica; however, the street lights and neighboring homes had electricity. Each time the lights went out - we were in the middle of cooking!!! So much food had to be thrown away -- because her home is totally electric! Due to the electrical situation, the refrigerator could not make ice or keep the food cold. The refrigerator also leaked.
During the night or whenever, they felt like it Gloria and her family roamed throughout the area we rented. We felt as if we were being spyed on. In addition, we had keys to lock our room doors, but so did she. After requesting NO MAID service and locking our door, we returned to a room that had received service after all.
My guests were extremely disappointed, upset, frustrated, and uncomfortable. Much of their frustrations were also geared towards me - since I found the place. I had no idea that we would encounter such problems. Although, the Chateau Gloria is designed beautifully, it is not ready for guests. I would never reccommond this house to anyone and I was very disappointed with my stay in Jamaica.
Please advise me as to the next step in theis matter. Also, As I receive the letters from the other occupants, I will forward them to you.
I do appreciate your concern and cooperation.
