Activities galore at Four Seasons Resort Exuma Bahamas

Relax or get active, it’s up to you at world-class resort at Emerald Bay, Exuma in The Bahamas.

Great Exuma, The Bahamas (March 21, 2005) – There generally two kinds of beach vacationers: those who dedicate their leisure time to doing nothing at all and those who revel in action and adventure from beginning to end. The Great Exuma Four Seasons Resort at Emerald Bay in The Bahamas caters beautifully to both.

Taking it easy is easy at Four Seasons Great Exuma
The mile-long bay, with a powdery white, soft sand beach, is a fine backdrop for taking it easy at the Four Seasons Resort Great Exuma. You can recline on a chaise lounge and leisurely sip your favourite beverage and watch the action. Relaxing experiences are also to be had at the Spa, where guests are immersed in the serene beauty of the island while gaining a relaxed sense of personal harmony. Therapies using natural salts extracted from local salt beds, indigenous herbs, flowers and oils, make for an authentic Bahamian experience. Meditation, yoga and a secluded Tranquil Garden help to activate the body’s natural healing process. They can soak in outdoor whirlpools alongside landscaped pool decks, or relax under private cabanas.

Push yourself to the limit in Great Exuma
At the resort’s Spa and Fitness Centre, guests can put their stamina to the test using the latest weight training and cardiovascular equipment, or by participating in a high-energy fitness class. Expert, highly trained staff is on hand to assist or develop personalized programs. Guests can enjoy a wide variety of non-motorized water sports equipment and even sail their way to one of the many nearby deserted beaches with a picnic lunch. Swimmers my opt for the ocean or the resort’s two free-form, fresh-water swimming pools. The Water Sports Activity Center offers expert instruction in snorkelling, scuba diving, sailing, windsurfing and kayaking. Guests take pleasure in Great Exuma’s exotic underwater marine life and its abundance of untouched coral reefs. Guests also experience fishing excursions on the surrounding waters, renowned as some of the world’s best locations for finding amberjack, barracuda, giant tuna, grouper and other catches. For land lovers, the Resort’s four Har-Tru® tennis courts are lit for night play. The resort will also arrange island excursions and hiking expeditions.

Sailing and fishing trips available in paradise
Opening in December 2003, the Marina at Emerald Bay will be the finest of its kind in the Caribbean. Located within walking distance or a quick shuttle ride from the Resort, the Marina offers a deepwater haven for yachts and cruising boats. This extensive 17-acre facility provides up to 100 slips and is configured to accommodate mega-yachts of 200 feet in length. Serving as a point of entry for customs and immigration, the Marina provides daily docking and full marina services, including water and electricity, telephone and cable TV, fuel dock, Dockmaster’s office, restaurant, a ship’s chandlery, a produce market, floating docks and dry dock storage.

Private charter sailing craft and motorboats, with or without a crew, and snorkelling expeditions to more than 30 renowned dive sites are available for eco-trips that highlight the area’s natural wonders. The Resort’s two catamarans are inclusive with crew and on-board food and beverage service for cruising the undiscovered crescent archipelago.

Golf at the beautiful Four Seasons Golf Club
One of the premier tests of golf in The Bahamas Islands is the 18-hole, par-72 Four Seasons Golf Club at Emerald Bay. The course features six breathtaking oceanfront holes – more ocean views than any comparable course in the U.S. The course plays to 6,880 yards from championship tees, but it is ideal for golfers of all levels. The course takes maximum advantage of the island’s native vegetation of sea grapes, silver buttonwood and cabbage palms that leisurely sway in the prevailing southeastern trade winds. An environmentally friendly seashore paspalum grass with lush green canopy creates a surface that requires little fertilizer and uses ocean water for irrigation. Golf pros, a pro shop, driving range, putting green, lessons and complimentary clinics round out the experience.
