Old Bahama Bay in The Bahamas celebrates

Grand Bahama Island’s only upscale resort, marina and residential community offers unique, fun-filled celebrations for guests of all ages

Grand Bahama Island, The Bahamas (March 7, 2005) - Old Bahama Bay Resort & Yacht Harbour offers an outstanding line-up of guest celebrations and events for 2005. Located in Grand Bahama’s West End, the resort’s celebrations include full moon parties, sunrise and sunset events, children’s events, gospel brunch, and Bahamian Junkanoo entertainment.

The Croon to the Moon beach party is held every month on the Saturday closest to the full moon. The party features cocktails and dinner, s’mores treats at the bonfire, live Bahamian Junkanoo entertainment, the "Salute to Motown" show with the West End Love Train, crab races for kids, live karaoke, and on select dates, the resort’s employee-performed show. Open to all resort guests and non-guests with pre-purchased dinner packages, 2005 dates are set for April 23, June 25, July 23, and August 20. Groups can also hire the Croon to the Moon beach party on non-full moon dates.

Celebrate Old Bahama Bay’s Catch of the Day at the Sunset Celebration. The happy hour festivities include signature cocktails, complimentary conch fritters, souvenir photos, prizes for guests’ catch, Bahamian recipes, conch cracking (an opportunity to learn about conch and its many uses) a ring toss tournament and the best music for watching sunsets: Jimmy Buffett, the Beatles, Eric Clapton, the Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra and more. This family event is open to all resort guests and is held at the beachside Straw Bar most Wednesdays and Fridays from 5pm to 7pm, as well as on Memorial Day, July 4, Labour Day, Columbus Day and Presidents’ Day weekend.

The Sunrise Celebration is Old Bahama Bay’s version of a spiritual continental breakfast. Held at the beachside Straw Bar the breakfast features fresh coffee, juice, Bahamian pastries, a photo contest for the best sunrise, and a spiritual awakening to the best music for experiencing sunrises, including songs by Enya, Enigma, Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Yanni and many others. The Sunrise Celebration is open to all resort and yacht harbour guests on select Saturday and Sunday mornings.

In appreciation of captains and crews, the Captains’ Barefoot Ball is held monthly at the centre dock of the Old Bahama Bay Yacht Harbour. While the event is "mandatory" for all captains and crews, all marina and resort guests are invited to join the party. Festivities include special drink prices, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, entertainment by West End Love Train on select dates, and contests for karaoke, the best joke, the best fish story, and the best Where are you now? story. Captains and crews will also be invited to join the Passport to Paradise club for future parties and resort specials with special incentives and benefits. The Captains’ Barefoot Ball is scheduled for May 29, June 12, July 3, August 7, September 4, and November 6, and is available to groups on any date.

Kids’ Night at the Movies is an organized family event, which includes a feature movie, a light snack, story time and games. Held in Old Bahama Bay’s fitness centre, the event is open to all resort guests and children ages four to twelve (children under four must be accompanied by an adult). Tickets cost $10 per child if the parents have an Old Bahama Bay dinner reservation and $18 per child without a reservation. Kids’ Night at the Movies is held most Friday and Saturday nights from 6:30pm to 11pm.

Gospel Sunday Brunch features live strolling gospel singers in the dining rooms, on the docks and throughout the resort. The brunch is open to all resort guests, churches, and Grand Bahama Island residents on the pre-purchased local package. Churches presenting gospel singers receive a $100 donation to the church from Old Bahama Bay and discounts for children’s meals. Gospel Sunday Brunch is held every Sunday at Old Bahama Bay’s Dockside Grille from 11:30am to 3pm with live music from 1pm to 3pm. On Easter, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day the event will be extended from 1pm to 7pm.
