Dominican Republic gets second new all-inclusive resort

Viva Wyndham Playa Dorada opens in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (July 27, 2004) - The Dominican Republic’s new Viva Wyndham Playa Dorada resort officially opens in January 2005, offering a full-service spa and a wealth of activities for sport enthusiasts, adventure travelers, honeymooners, and those looking for a more relaxing vacation. Following a complete remodeling, nearly half of the resort’s 204 rooms will be junior suites, with most rooms featuring a private balcony.

Nestled on a beautiful golden sand beach on the northern coast in the Playa Dorada complex, Viva Wyndham Playa Dorada emulates the Dominican Republic with beautifully appointed exteriors and interiors of Caribbean-style architecture and design. Guests can choose from three restaurants, including a Mediterranean a la carte, Oriental a la carte, and an international buffet-style eatery serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Activities include golf, horseback riding on the beach, swimming with dolphins, windsurfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, biking, tennis and more. Additionally, the resort features a freshwater pool, children’s pool, Jacuzzi, fitness center and weight room, a discotheque, a game room, multi-purpose courts, tennis, diving and more.

The Viva Wyndham Playa Dorada is minutes away from downtown Puerto Plata and Sosua, which feature shopping and historic sites, and is only 15 minutes from Cabarete, a charming town with shops offering local hand-made art, clothing and jewelry, as well as restaurants nestled on the beach with quaint atmospheres.

"Viva Wyndham’s unique point of differentiation from other all-inclusives is to identify a compelling Caribbean destination that can offer guests a variety of activities on- or off-property to provide customized vacation experiences. This is why we selected the northern coast of the Dominican Republic, which is becoming increasingly popular among US travelers," says Ettore Colussi, president of Viva Wyndham Resorts. "Viva Wyndham Playa Dorada marks our seventh property in the Viva Wyndham family and exemplifies our commitment to offering travelers extraordinary destination options combined with our signature value-added all-inclusive vacation experience."

Guests staying at the Viva Wyndham Playa Dorada enjoy an all-inclusive vacation package that features accommodations, all meals, unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, daily activities and fitness programs, unlimited non-motorized water sports with complimentary lessons, enrollment in the Kid’s Club, live nightly entertainment, and all taxes, surcharges and gratuities. Children 12 years of age and younger stay, play and eat free when sharing a room with two paying adults (maximum of two children per room).
