SuperClubs responds to US State Department’s Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative

Costs of new and renewed passports for 2006 Caribbean vacations covered by SuperClubs at 10 of its all-inclusive resorts

Hollywood, Florida (April 19, 2005) - In response to the US State Department’s new passport requirements for US travelers to the Caribbean in 2006, SuperClubs has created a Passport Included package to defray the additional cost. This means that the cost of applying for and renewing passports will be credited towards SuperClubs all-inclusive vacations in 2006, as long as they are booked by July 31, 2005. This special promotion can save hundreds of dollars and is valid at 10 SuperClubs’ Grand Lido, Breezes, and Hedonism resorts in four Caribbean countries.

Until now, US travelers have been able to visit the Caribbean, Bermuda, Mexico, Panama, and Canada with only a driver’s license and/or birth certificate. In early April, however, the US State Department announced that Americans traveling to the Caribbean, by air or sea, will require passports to re-enter the United States. Dubbed the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, this new rule will go into effect by the end of 2005. At current costs for passport applications - $97 for adults, $82 for children under 16 years, and $67 for renewals - a family of four could spend close to $400 for their passports alone.

To take advantage of the Passport Included promotion, US vacationers need to book their SuperClubs vacation and pay a non-refundable deposit of $225 per person by July 31, 2005 for travel anytime in 2006. In order to have the total costs of new and renewed passports credited towards the vacation package, guests must provide proof that new passports have been applied for or renewed by faxing a copy of the information page of new passport(s) to (954) 925-0334. Traveler’s should note that passports take between six to eight weeks to process with peak season from January to July. The State Department advises that August through December are the best times to apply. SuperClubs cannot cover expedited surcharges for last-minute applications. For details on how to apply or renew a passport, visit www.travel.state.gov/passport/get/get_840.html.

The Passport Included package is available at SuperClubs’ Grand Lido Negril Resort & Spa, Grand Lido Braco Resort & Spa, Breezes Runaway Bay Resort & Golf Club, Breezes Montego Bay, Hedonism II, and Hedonism III, all in Jamaica; Breezes Bahamas in Nassau; Breezes Curacao Resort Spa & Casino; and Breezes Punta Cana Resort Spa & Casino, and Breezes Puerto Plata Resort Spa & Casino, both in the Dominican Republic.

"SuperClubs has always led the industry with new and exciting innovations. Almost 30 years ago we created the all-inclusive Caribbean holiday, and since then, we have continued to better the concept, adding such novel amenities as 24-hour room service, golf, manicures, and even flu shots into the all-inclusive mix," says Zein Issa, SuperClubs vice-president of marketing. "This Passport Included package is just another groundbreaking move by SuperClubs that eases the burden of these new passport fees. In keeping with our commitment towards a hassle-free vacation, it’s only natural that we would absorb these costs on behalf of our guests."
