Take the “Fall Golf Challenge” with Viva Wyndham in the Dominican Republic

Viva Wyndham Playa Dorada kicks off first annual golf tournament with a special all-inclusive package


Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (September, 2005) – This autumn head to the Dominican Republic for the first annual “Fall Golf Challenge” at the Viva Wyndham Playa Dorada resort in Puerto Plata. In partnership with Golf Challenge, Inc., guests can play for prizes on two world-renowned Robert Trent Jones Sr. golf courses and save with a special five-night all-inclusive package starting at $685 per person.

The golf challenge offers a variety of tournament formats played at the Playa Dorada Golf Club, which appeared in GOLF DIGEST's 2005 “Best 100 golf courses situated outside the United States” and at the Playa Grande Golf Club, which features 10 holes running along ocean cliffs with magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean. Tournament dates run October 16–21 and 23–28, October 30–November 4, and November 6–11, 2005.

All golf challenge winners and runners-up receive a trophy and gift certificate. Participants can also enter a raffle to win a one-week stay for two at any Viva Wyndham resort, two Callaway golf bags, and two Callaway umbrellas. Callaway will also be holding a two-day demonstration of its newest golf clubs on the Playa Dorada Golf Course.

Located in the Playa Dorada complex, a private resort community of 15 all-inclusive resorts, Viva Wyndham Playa Dorada features a full-service spa, shops, restaurants, bars, and three casinos, all along a 13-mile golden sand beach. In addition to golf, the resort offers numerous activities, including horseback riding, windsurfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, biking, and tennis.

Fall Golf Challenge package rates start at $1000 per person for two golfers based on double occupancy, $1,132 for one golfer based on single occupancy, and $685 per person for one golfer and one non-golfer based on double occupancy.

Rates include junior suite accommodation for five nights; transfer to and from Puerto Plata International Airport; welcome cocktail party; all meals and snacks; unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks; Golf Challenge entry fee; dinner and awards cocktail party and banquet; unlimited green fees, carts, practice balls and club storage from Monday through Thursday; special price of $50 at Playa Dorada Golf Club, including green fee and shared cart per person for up to two days before and after the Golf Challenge dates; golf and transportation to Playa Grande Golf Club; unlimited non-motorized water sports; free sports collective lessons; daily activities program; nightly entertainment; participation in the Viva Wyndham’s Kid’s and Junior’s Clubs; and all taxes and gratuities.

Guests of Viva Wyndham Resorts can also enjoy Wyndham ByRequest, the brand’s guest recognition program. Guests may choose items from more than 300 options that appear on the Wyndham ByRequest profile form, such as a welcome snack, preferred magazine, or a preferred type of wine.
