All-inclusive family resorts in Mexico and the Dominican Republic cater to kids

Dreams Resorts & Spas and Sunscape Resorts & Spas feature new Explorer’s Club for kids

Philadelphia (September 9, 2005) - Dreams Resorts & Spas and Sunscape Resorts & Spas, seven luxury, family-focused resorts in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, offer families even more fun with the new Explorer’s Club for kids. From climbing and camping to treasure hunts and pool parties, the Explorer’s Club offers a variety of supervised activities daily as part of all-inclusive packages.

Open from 9am to 10pm, the fully supervised Explorer’s Club incorporates intriguing and educational activities for kids age three to 12. Younger children might go on a nature walk, search for shells, play pirate games, and make sandcastles, piñatas, and paper airplanes. Older kids might go on an iguana safari, learn some Spanish or merengue dance moves, and play beach volleyball, air hockey, or water polo. One night a week kids also have the opportunity to camp out in tents and watch a film on an outdoor movie screen.

Each of the seven Explorer’s Clubs offers special facilities and programs that are unique to each location. For example, kids can play in an elaborate tree house at the Sunscape Puerto Aventuras Riviera Maya and at the new Sunscape The Beach Punta Cana, an enormous pirate ship with water slide sits in the middle of the kid’s pool with sails set and cannons ready. All Explorer’s Clubs have been designed with safety and comfort in mind, and include padded floors and rounded corners, pagers for parents to stay in contact, and strictly enforced security.

While kids enjoy supervised activities with new friends, parents can enjoy adult pursuits, such as a quiet soak in a Jacuzzi, a couples massage at the spa, scuba diving, golfing, or working out at the fitness center.

The swimming pool areas at Dreams and Sunscape resorts also offer fun for the whole family. Many incorporate waterfalls and water slides, a lazy river for tubing, a Jacuzzi, and swim-up pool bar, and kids love the giant floating trampoline and floating iceberg with climbing handles. Additional water sports include sailing, windsurfing, snorkeling, kayaking and water cycling - all complimentary, including instruction. Land activities typically include bicycling, ping-pong, tennis, croquet, volleyball, billiards, darts, board games, archery, badminton, and giant chess.

Some resorts also offer facilities and programs designed specifically for teenagers, such as the Teen Center and Night Club at Sunscape The Beach Punta Cana; facials, cosmetics lessons, and sparkly nails at the spa; and private trainers at the fitness center.

The upscale and comfortable rooms at Dreams and Sunscape resorts, decorated in sun-drenched colors, come with four-poster beds, marble baths, tile floors, air conditioning, a balcony or terrace, a fully stocked mini-bar, and a 27-inch satellite television. Families often prefer swim-out suites or two-bedroom master oceanfront suites, but can also choose connecting rooms or other room categories, many with en-suite Jacuzzis, as well as Club-level rooms with additional concierge services. Guests can choose from numerous dining options, such as open-air beachside grills and gourmet restaurants serving Japanese, Mexican, and Italian dishes and more.

All-inclusive rates at Dreams Resorts & Spas and Sunscape Resorts & Spas include accommodations, gourmet meals, premium-brand drinks, 24-hour room service, Explorer’s Club, pools, sports facilities, water sports and instruction, entertainment, taxes, and gratuities. Babysitting is available for an additional charge.

“At Dreams and Sunscape resorts we’ve planned comprehensive facilities, activities, and programs to meet the entire scope of needs among family members,” says Rod Gah, corporate director of entertainment. “Whether families are playing together or pursuing separate passions, they’ll find plenty of value-added options included in guest stay packages that will make their vacations fun and memorable.”
