Luxury in paradise: Atlantis resort

Atlantis resort in The Bahamas offers a full range of accommodations

The fantasy theme resort Atlantis, based on the legend of the lost city of Atlantis, provides an out-of-this-world vacation for travellers of all ages. Located on Paradise Island across the harbour from Nassau, Atlantis offers accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets with 2,300 guest rooms occupying three sets of towers and a timeshare resort.

The Royal Towers, crown jewels of the resort with avant-garde architecture and stunning décor, offer extravagantly luxurious accommodations with dramatic views. The Great Hall of Waters lobby, an Atlantean fusion of European basilica and ancient Greek temple architecture, evokes a sense of awe as ornate columns supporting a grand domed ceiling of golden shells soar 70 feet into the air. Choose from standard guest rooms with balconies, sitting areas, and king- or queen-sized beds, and regal suites with full balcony, separate parlor, king-sized beds, and large master bathrooms stocked with fresh flowers, slippers, and robes. Enjoy the finest VIP treatment at the Royal Towers Imperial Club with its private access, upgraded concierge service, library, and breakfast, afternoon tea, cocktails, and evening sweets served daily. Joining the two towers is the epitome luxury, the 5,000-square-foot Bridge Suite. Catering to high rollers, big spenders, and stars, including past guests Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, and Michael Jackson, its 10 rooms, baby grand piano, gold-plated chairs, original paintings, marble tiles, 24-hour butler service, and unique views of the harbour, ocean, and island are available for $25,000 per night.

The mid-priced Coral Towers and the competitively priced Beach Tower cater to guests on a somewhat tighter budget. While they don’t have gold-plated chairs or baby grand pianos, both offer comfortable standard rooms decorated in either soft Bahamian colours with an ocean motif or island-themed tropical colours, and include a full balcony, sitting areas, and a king-sized or two double beds. Coral Towers also offers regal suites with two full balconies, separate parlor, king-sized bed, and master bathroom.

Adjacent to the marina stands the pastel-hued Harborside Resort with its traditional Bahamian yellow, pink, blue, and green buildings. The spacious private villas of this timeshare resort feature full kitchens, satellite television, terrace or balcony, private laundry facilities, designer furnishings, custom fabrics, and luxurious touches. The complex includes its own zero-entry swimming pool, children’s pool, heated jetted spa pool, and the open-air Point Restaurant with panoramic views of Nassau Harbour.

With a selection of accommodations to suit all budgets, everyone can experience the luxury and fantasy of Atlantis resort.
