Sandals all-inclusive resort in Ocho Rios unveils new look and name

Sandals Dunn’s River Villaggio Golf Resort & Spa receives $25 million restoration and design

Miami, Florida, USA (December 27, 2005) – After a $25 million restoration and redesign, the new 250-room Sandals Dunn’s River Villaggio Golf Resort & Spa reopened on December 22, 2005, blending luxurious tropical offerings with Mediterranean grandeur. Inspired by that glorious part of the world renowned for turning the simplest things into something extraordinary, the resorts made for love now bring the romance of all things authentically Italian to the Caribbean.

To celebrate the renaissance of Sandals Dunn’s River Villaggio Golf Resort & Spa, Sandals is offering a 55 per cent savings with ultra all-inclusive rates beginning at $157.50 per person, per night, from January 1 through April 13, 2006, and $150.75 per person, per night, from April 14 through December 31, 2006.

The Italian Renaissance experience begins immediately upon arrival as guests enter through a new porte-cochere and columned lobby. They are greeted by hotel staff with a “Buon giorno, mon!” and offered a refreshing bellini cocktail. The Piazza del Campo, the heart of activity at the hotel, overlooks the sea and a vast freshwater pool with a cascading waterfall inspired by Jamaica’s landmark, Dunn’s River Falls. The Piazza offers the new Pizzeria del Campo, featuring a traditional wood-fired pizza oven; Italian pastries, espressos and flavored coffees at the Bar del Campo; ice cream at Gelateria Luigi; and praline and cotton candy delights at Mondorle e Zucchero Filato.

A common ingredient in Italian and Jamaican culture is a passion for cooking. Sandals Dunn’s River Villaggio Golf Resort & Spa’s Il Capitano serves fine wines and classic Italian cuisine with a choice of dining indoors by candlelight or alfresco by the ocean under the stars, while Ristorante Colombo offers gourmet Caribbean cuisine. The resort also offers Asian cuisine at teppanyaki-style Kimonos, international dishes at Ristorante Marco Polo and casual gourmet fare at Caffé Arno.

Following dinner a true Roman experience awaits. Sandals Dunn’s River Villaggio Golf Resort & Spa offers nightly entertainment inspired by Il Carnivale dating back to the 1200s. Guests can enjoy a cinema night featuring Italian classics and Hollywood hits, dancing on the beach, a weekly masquerade ball, as well as true Italian customs such as wine and cheese parties, caricature artists, jugglers and mimes.

When it’s time to retire, guests can retreat to the newly enhanced rooms, featuring four-poster mahogany beds, marble-topped mini bars, rich furnishings and Persian rugs. The redesigned lavish suites include dedicated sitting areas, marble baths, the services of a personal butler and sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea. Additionally, couples have the choice of enjoying Red Lane Spa treatments in their room or in the new spa facility.
