Abaco Club launches unique rental cabanas

Exclusive golf and sports retreat in The Bahamas invites potential members to take a peek

Abaco, The Bahamas – The Abaco Club on Winding Bay – the great new getaway created by Englishman Peter de Savary for the discerning real estate investor – is now set to open to one-time visitors with 20 club cabanas, available for rent beginning November 1, 2005.

The cabanas set a new benchmark in elegant out-island accommodation, according to de Savary, who also founded all of the St James Clubs, The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle in Scotland, Bovey Castle in England, Cherokee Plantation in South Carolina, and Carnegie Abbey Club in Rhode Island.

The 650-sq-ft, octagonal rooms dot the club's first fairway and areas near the club's two-mile pristine powder-sand beach. Nestled among tropical landscaping, each cabana affords privacy and features a thatched deck with outdoor sitting area and a hammock.

The all-white rooms, with floor to ceiling white curtains on French doors that open to the thatched porch, provide the canvas for the punches of bright colour that fill the room. The rooms come in four colour palettes including subtle and vibrant variations of blue, turquoise, pink, orange and lavender. Created by de Savary's award-winning designer, Nicole Langlois, the Cabanas are the first of their kind on the island.

Each room features one king-sized or two twin beds, a walk-in cedar closet and ensuite glass mosaic tiled bathroom. Amenities include a sitting area with convertible sofa for children, 42-in plasma screen television, Bose sound system and a marble-topped wet bar featuring Villeroy & Boch china settings for four.

The high-quality construction includes red cedar siding, cypress ceilings and bamboo flooring. The cabanas also feature signature de Savary touches such as luxurious Italian bedding and linens, and Kohler fixtures, including a wall-mounted faucet and an above-counter spun-glass vessel sink in the bathroom.

Guests at the Cabanas have access to the world's first tropical links championship golf course, clubhouse with infinity pool, deep-sea fishing and bonefishing, equestrian, spa, tennis, children's programs and numerous watersports. The club's boats, as well as the club's plane, are available to guests for charter. The club also has a private airport terminal with Customs and Immigration.

Nightly rates, inclusive of continental breakfast, are $1000 for non-members. (Members and their guests receive a discounted rate.) The club also offers two- to four-bedroom cottages for rent from $1,800 per night.

For bookings call 1-888-303-2765 toll free in the US or (242) 367-0077 worldwide.
