10th Annual St Kitts Music Festival announces lineup

2006 roster for the June 29-July 2 event includes Shaggy, Beenie Man and Yolanda Adams


Basseterre, St Kitts (April 20, 2006) – The 10th Annual St Kitts Music Festival takes place June 29-July 2, 2006. This year’s lineup includes top musical acts including Yolanda Adams, Akon, Shaggy, Beenie Man and Dionne Warwick.

The festival attracts both locals and visitors alike and features various musical styles, including R&B, jazz, hip hop, reggae, soca, calypso, gospel and contemporary music. Past artists include such top acts as Kenny Rogers, Boyz II Men, Wyclef Jean, Brian McKnight, Ashanti, Shaggy, Eve, Bobby Caldwell, DMX, Hugh Masekala, Xtatik, the Temptations, Chaka Khan, Maxi Priest, Ronald “Boo” Hinkson and Busta Rhymes.

“The organizers have done an excellent job in putting together this year’s St Kitts Music Festival,” said Richard “Ricky” O Skerritt, Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture for St Kitts. “The 10th anniversary of the festival should be an enormous success with so many quality artists scheduled to appear. Visitors from across the Caribbean, North America and Europe will be treated to many outstanding performances and we hope their experience of our island will keep them coming back again and again.”

The 2006 lineup for the 10th Annual St Kitts Music Festival is as follows:

THURSDAY, JUNE 29
- Soca/calypso explosion featuring King Dis ‘n Dat, King Socrates, King Meeko and King Konris backed by the Legends Band
- Arrow
- Onyan and the Burning Flames
- Destra with the band Atlantik
- Nu Vybes Band International

FRIDAY, JULY 30
- Bankie Banks and the Roots & Herbs
- Culture
- Morgan Heritage
- Crucial Bankie
- Beenie Man

SATURDAY, JULY 1
- Chris Brown
- Air Supply
- Shaggy
- Jully Black
- Akon

SUNDAY, JULY 2
- Masud Sadiki
- Yolanda Adams
- Dionne Warwick
- NEWA, featuring Nicholas Brancker, Eddie Bullen, Wilson Laurencin and Artura Tappin, with special guest Bruce Skerritt

The festival begins at 8pm on Thursday and Friday and at 7pm on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets cost US$40 nightly or US$145 for a four-night festival pass. Credit card holders can also purchase tickets in advance via the website www.stkittsmusicfestival.net.
