Luxury Jamaica resort nominated for top honours at World Travel Awards

Royal Plantation Ocho Rios also previous recipient of Jamaica’s Leading Resort award

New York, New York, USA (August 2006) – Royal Plantation Ocho Rios, Jamaica, a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, has been nominated for four top honours at the 2006 World Travel Awards. Royal Plantation’s impeccably high standard of service, true decadence and unrivaled luxury have been recognized with nominations in the categories of Caribbean’s Leading Resort, Jamaica’s Leading Resort, Jamaica’s Leading Golf Resort and Jamaica’s Leading Spa Resort. Royal Plantation was the recipient of the World Travel Award for Jamaica’s Leading Resort in 2005.

The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate achievements in the global travel industry, and are recognized by leading travel professionals as one of the best accolades that any travel product can receive. Voting is cast by travel agents in more than 200 countries around the world. Hundreds and thousands of votes each year are registered on-line at the official World Travel Awards website, with most of the leading travel Internet sites offering additional on-line voting facilities. The 13th Annual World Travel Awards will be held at Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort & Spa in the Turk & Caicos Islands on September 20, 2006, when all winners will be announced.

Evoking unrestrained elegance and grandeur with an exotic island touch, Royal Plantation is an intimate 74-suite boutique hotel and three-bedroom villa offering stunning ocean views. Built almost five decades ago with classic Colonial Caribbean style, this historically rich and recently renewed oceanfront property has recaptured the subdued grace of days gone by and installed a level of time-honoured genuine Jamaican service that evokes its roots. Whether a vacationer is relaxing on one of the two private beaches, under the attentive care of one of the hotel’s beach butlers, reviving body and spirit at Royal Plantation’s Red Lane Spa, a member of The Leading Spas of the World, or dining in one of the four world-class restaurants, Royal Plantation has succeeded in elevating the superlative standards of comfort and luxury set by Jamaica’s premiere accommodations.

A member of The Leading Small Hotels of The World and Leading Spas of the World, Royal Plantation is also the recipient of three American Academy of Hospitality Science Five Star Diamond Awards and winner of the Resort and Great Hotels Connoisseurs Choice Award for 2004, and is Green Globe certified.
