Fantastic summer rates allow guests to more easily slip away from their worries into the care-free, laid-back island vibe.

Goldeneye, Oracabessa, Jamaica:
The birthplace of James Bond, this 15-acre seaside hideaway was home to author Ian Fleming as he wrote his 13 most famous spy novels. Fleming’s retreat is now a boutique property laced with beaches, tropical forests and secluded nooks, a lush setting which found its way into many 007 adventures. Four intimate villas on the sea, one overlooking a cove, attract celebrities and other lovers of natural beauty.

Goldeneye’s Big Fish Little Fish Family Fun Programme features plenty of opportunities for children of all ages and adults to play, explore and discover while forming an intimate relationship with earth, sea and sky in this natural wonderland. Here they can behold the wonders of the Caribbean during Adventure & Lessons by Sea, when Goldeneye’s trained lifeguards, skilled sailors, instructors and watersports enthusiasts Nico, Clifton and Simeon offer swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, sailing and windsurfing lessons (use of watersports equipment is complimentary).

Other choices include a glass-bottom boat excursion, an ideal way to warm up to underwater adventure. More than 700 species of fish can be found in Jamaica’s turquoise sea swimming amongst scores of exotic corals. Or enjoy your own stingray “meet and greet” with a visit to Stingray City at James Bond Beach. Fishing with Ramsey, who has been at Goldeneye since Ian Fleming’s days, is another wonderful family adventure, with special fun for kids: they can catch their own bait, scale their own fish, and then see it cooked before they eat it for dinner!

Would they rather stay on land? Let your kids’ creativity flow at Arts, Crafts & Culture with “Yard We Deh,” which includes workshops in jewellery, paper, frame or doll making; fabric printing, painting and tie dye; and mosaics and collage available with advance booking. Or perhaps they’d rather rejuvenate their body and soul with yoga and meditation or gather nightly for whimsical bonfires.

Summer rates start at $750 for two people and include breakfast, lunch, dinner, fruit juice, house wines and spirits, local tax and service charge.
