Jamaica resort takes home two prestigious World Travel Awards

Royal Plantation Ocho Rios named the Caribbean’s Leading Resort and Jamaica’s Leading Resort

New York, New York, USA (September 21, 2006) – Last night in an impressive fashion, Royal Plantation Ocho Rios, Jamaica was named Jamaica’s Leading Resort and the Caribbean’s Leading Resort at the 13th Annual World Travel Awards in Providenciales, Turks & Caicos. Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards acknowledge, reward and celebrate the outstanding achievements in the global travel industry. The awards are recognized by leading travel professionals as one of the best accolades that any travel entity can receive. This year’s ceremony was held at Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort & Spa, and was broadcast on BBC World television.

Royal Plantation won the Caribbean’s Leading Resort beating out Atlantis Paradise Island Resort, Nassau, Bahamas; The Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort, Rose Hall, Jamaica; and the Four Seasons Resort Nevis, among others. In the category of Jamaica’s Leading Resort, Royal Plantation emerged victorious for the second year in a row from other Jamaican candidates, including Half Moon, Montego Bay; Couples Negril; and Grand Lido Negril Resort & Spa.

These wins, along with four additional nominations at the 2006 World Travel Awards, are a true testament to Royal Plantation’s interpretation of Jamaica in unsurpassed luxury and quiet ease. This year’s voting reached a total of 167,000 travel professionals worldwide, including 110,000 travel agents in more than 200 countries around the world.

“To win Jamaica’s Leading Resort is a wonderful honour, but to also be selected as the Caribbean’s Leading Resort is an even greater compliment to the superior standards and the ongoing attention to detail we maintain for our guests,” said Royal Plantation’s managing director, Jaime Stewart. “We strive to make sure our guests are shown the utmost in Jamaican hospitality.”

A member of The Leading Small Hotels of the World, Royal Plantation’s one-of-a-kind qualities and faultless precision in all services make it a prime retreat for sophisticated members of society ranging from nobility and world leaders, to celebrities and executives. This stylish boutique property offers guests a realm of purely personal luxury – 74 classically chic suites each with ocean views, an extraordinary private villa, beach butlers available to serve upon beck and call, flawlessly manicured gardens and sun-drenched beaches.

In placing value on authenticity, Royal Plantation goes above and beyond for its guests by offering some of the most unique and exciting experiences, from authentic cooking classes to artist in-residence painting lessons. Further showcasing its versatility, the hotel presents a number of exciting dining options to entertain guests, as well as the world class Red Lane Spa for ultimate relaxation following a day of unrestrained elegance and service at Royal Plantation.
