Barbados hotel reopens after renovation

Treasure Beach Hotel transforms from a simple west coast retreat into a chic and stylish haven

(January 12, 2007) – Winter 2007 sees the official arrival of a chic boutique and peaceful retreat on the west coast of Barbados with the reopening of Treasure Beach (November 2006). Visitors, old and new, will see that despite the hotel’s total make over, the intimate and friendly feel that Treasure Beach is so well loved for, remains.

Treasure Beach offers a stunning location and quiet, intimate charm attracting couples, solo travellers and honeymooners. Located on one of the island’s best white-sand beaches, the boutique hotel is set in lush, tropical gardens. Its suites form a horseshoe shape around the freshwater pool and are cool and contemporary in design.

Caribbean interior designer Simone St Rose, has retained the hotel’s much-loved charm, creating a genuine style that mixes the contemporary with the tradition and culture of Barbados and the Caribbean as a whole. Specially designed mosaics feature throughout and the artwork and sculptures have been hand selected. Colour schemes feature a combination of cool, creamy whites, rich textures and brightly coloured furnishings, which stand out against the neutral background of the coral stone walls, reflecting the life and soul of the Caribbean. Floors are hardwood timber and lighting is simple but sophisticated to create an intimate and elegant ambience.

Each of the 35 suites is finished to the highest specification. All rooms feature air conditioning and ceiling fan, a living area with plasma-screen TV and high-speed WiFi Internet access, as well as coffee- and tea-making facilities and a mini bar for comfort. Patios with outdoor furniture and sun loungers offer guests places to relax in private.

Stylish new bathrooms have contemporary fittings, twin sinks, separate shower and bath and smart new flooring using light ceramic tiles. Treasure Beach has partnered with Temple Spa for bathroom treats – an indulgent lifestyle, spa-based skin and body care range for men and women.

Three new deluxe suites, including the renovated Hemingway Suite, Hibiscus Suite and Hummingbird Suite, enjoy stunning views over the white-sand beach and turquoise sea, and offer the ultimate in space and comfort. All feature a private terrace with a plunge pool and are located right on the edge of the beach.

Delicious offerings from the kitchen make the award-winning Al Fresco restaurant a must, where guests can dine under the stars and enjoy a variety of culinary experiences all using fresh local ingredients prepared to an excellent standard by new chef, Daniel Arratoon.

When it comes to ambience, experienced hotelier Hamish Watson and the team at Treasure Beach work together to create an intimate and personal atmosphere mixed with a “house-party style” where service always comes with a smile.

“We’re very excited about the completion of the hotel’s renovations and look forward to welcoming our loyal, as well as our new guests …. They will all be truly impressed with the improvements and delighted to see that the intimate and friendly feel that Treasure Beach is so well loved for, remains,” said Watson, general manager of Treasure Beach Hotel.
