Jamaica resort hosts 8th annual culinary celebration in June

Grand Lido Negril Resort & Spa’s all-inclusive Epicurean Escape package starts at $1,800 per couple

Negril, Jamaica (April 2, 2007) – One of the most eagerly awaited events on the culinary calendar is the Epicurean Escape at Grand Lido Negril Resort & Spa in Jamaica. To be held June 27–July 1 in its eighth year, the Epicurean Escape will follow its proven recipe for success: a roster of top chefs and wine educators, stimulating classes, cooking demonstrations, wine and spirits tastings and fabulous dinners.

The AAA Four Diamond all-suite resort offers guests five indulgent days filled with interactive cooking demonstrations, pastry classes and tasting seminars that culminate in a seven-course Grand Gala, where the celebrated guest chefs present their signature dishes and master sommeliers guide diners through their superb wine selections.

Featured chefs include the following:

Lynn Crawford of the Four Seasons New York broke through the Pyrex ceiling when she became the only female executive chef at Four Seasons worldwide. Lynn’s star personality took centre stage when she hosted “Restaurant Makeover” on Food Network Canada, and this culinary tour de force is sure to steal the limelight once again in Jamaica.

Hailed as “Great Regional Chefs” by the James Beard Foundation, Johanne Killeen and George Germon, of the award-wining Al Forno restaurant in Rhode Island, have several culinary tricks up their sleeves for guests. They’ve already been honoured by Condé Nast Traveler’s “Distinguished Restaurants of North America” award, and the “World’s Best Restaurant” award for casual dining by the International Herald Tribune.

Keith Jones, also known as the “The Champagne Chef,” runs Chef’s Secrets in Colorado, and serves as executive chef for Roth Distributing Company. Jones engages all five senses during his “Eatertainment” presentation, a culmination of his 23 years as a chef.

Returning for his second Epicurean Escape, chef Ernest Bell of Spanish Trails Country Club in Las Vegas will tempt guests’ taste buds with savory and sweet treats during his pastry and specialty dessert classes.

Last but certainly not least, Grand Lido Negril’s own executive chef Martin Maginley, hailed as “the leading practitioner of the New Jamaican cuisine” by Caribbean Travel & Life magazine, will reveal his secrets to Caribbean-infused culinary masterpieces.

The bibulous side of the gastronomic equation will be equally illustrious with Michael A Jordan, Starwine International Wine Competition’s “Wine Educator of the Year 2006” and manager of Napa Rose, the premier restaurant in Disneyland’s Grand Californian Hotel. Jason Quinn of PRIME Steakhouse at the Bellagio, Las Vegas and Jamaica’s local wine wonder, Christopher Reckford, round out the impressive roster.

Four-night/five-day Epicurean Escape packages start at $1,800 per couple, representing a 20 per cent savings (land only). The luxurious resort’s all-inclusive stay includes accommodation, fine dining, alcoholic beverages, 24-hour room service, activities and entertainment, even tips and dry cleaning. This adults-only retreat offers a variety of amenities, including complimentary manicures and pedicures, a private beach, Jacuzzis, a full service spa, championship golf and yoga.

Every SuperClubs holiday is super-inclusive – accommodations; all meals, SuperSnacks and premium brand cocktails; unlimited use of all sports facilities, including equipment rental and instruction; entertainment; weddings; recreational activities; and hotel taxes – with absolutely no tipping allowed.
