Jamaica resort offers five-day OM yoga retreat

Strawberry Hill’s Yoga Body, Buddha Mind Retreat set for November 29–December 3, 2006 for $1,500 per person

(September 21, 2006) – Strawberry Hill resort in Jamaica is offering the Yoga Body, Buddha Mind Retreat with Cyndi Lee and David Nichetern November 29–December 3, 2006. Experience Strawberry Hill Living, a unique lifestyle that embraces all facets of living, bringing you to your optimum balance of de-stressed self-awareness. Enhance your experience with nature walks, sharing knowledge in coffee growing, tropical flora and fauna, birdwatching and the world-famous Aveda spa, the only one of its kind in the entire Caribbean. Nestled on a mountain top 3,100 feet above the Caribbean Sea, Strawberry Hill is a mystical retreat that boasts sweeping views of the majestic Blue Mountains.

In this special Yoga Body, Buddha Mind retreat, discover how the mutual support of hatha yoga and Buddhist meditation helps bring your body and mind into balance. The flowing vinyasa-style OM yoga explores how the breathing, balancing, stretching and strengthening of yoga provide an ideal opportunity to apply the Buddhist meditation techniques of watching our minds, recognizing our habits and opening our hearts. The workshops include hatha yoga practice, sitting and walking meditation and dharma talks, with an emphasis on integrating practice into everyday life.

Activities are planned daily and include the following: On your arrival day a one-hour OM yoga class is followed by a welcome dinner, featuring Strawberry Hill’s New Jamaican Cuisine created by the retreat’s award-winning executive chef Darren Lee. Each morning begins with meditation and practice followed by a more vigorous OM yoga class. Each afternoon during the break enjoy the 60-foot negative-edge swimming pool, nature trails, birdwatching expeditions and mountain hiking. A sauna and plunge pool round out the amenities, which include one of the top 40 spas in the world. Each evening there is an early restorative yoga class. Departure day features an OM yoga and meditation class followed by lunch.

The four-night/five-day (Wednesday to Sunday) retreat costs $1,500 per person, based on double occupancy and includes accommodation at Strawberry Hill, all meals, an Aveda Elemental Nature consultation, one spa treatment at the Strawberry Hill Aveda Concept Spa, round-trip transfers between Kingston Airport up the Blue Mountain to the resort, OM yoga and meditation practice with Cyndi Lee and David Nichtern, and access to the plunge and infinity pools and sauna. Book by October 10, 2006 and receive a special early bird price of $1,350, double occupancy.
