Spirit Airlines announces non-stop service to Aguadilla, Puerto Rico

Introductory fares starting at $8* and $88* each way available until January 18 and 31, 2007 respectively

Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA (January 16, 2007) – Spirit Airlines announces non-stop service from its Fort Lauderdale hub to Aguadilla, its second destination in Puerto Rico and 30th overall. Spirit will offer convenient daytime service to Aguadilla five times per week beginning April 12, 2007.

Puerto Rico holds a special place in Spirit’s history as the airline’s first Caribbean destination. Spirit has served Puerto Rico since 2001 with non-stop service to San Juan from its Fort Lauderdale hub. Spirit also offers non-stop service to San Juan from Orlando.

In addition to non-stop service, Spirit will also offer excellent connecting options to Aguadilla including Atlanta, Atlantic City, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Las Vegas, Los Angeles/LAX, Myrtle Beach, New York/LaGuardia, Orlando, Providence, Tampa, and Washington DC/Reagan National. This new route will be served by Spirit’s new, all Airbus fleet of aircraft, the youngest in the Americas.

Beginning April 12, 2007 flight #803 will depart Fort Lauderdale everyday, except Tuesdays and Wednesdays, at 1pm and arrive in Aguadilla at 3:40pm. The return flight #802 will depart Aguadilla everyday, except Tuesdays and Wednesdays, at 4:20pm and arrive in Fort Lauderdale at 6:58pm.

Introductory coach fares between Fort Lauderdale and Aguadilla start at $8* each way when purchased at spiritair.com by January 18, 2007 for travel on select dates. Spirit is also offering fares from $88 each way when purchased at spiritair.com by January 31, 2007 for travel from April 12 through June 10, 2007. Fares for all other markets are available at spiritair.com.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to offer non-stop access to the unexplored beauty of western Puerto Rico,” said Barry Biffle, chief marketing officer of Spirit Airlines. “Whether it’s surfing on the beaches of Rincón or visiting family in Mayagüez, Spirit’s new service to Aguadilla will offer tourists and locals alike a better insight into why Puerto Rico is known as the ‘Pearl of the Caribbean.’”

“The Puerto Rico Tourism Company is delighted with Spirit Airlines’ service into Aguadilla,” said Terestella González Denton, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company. “New service into Aguadilla in Porta del Sol is aligned with our efforts to invite visitors to ‘Explore Beyond the Shore’ in Puerto Rico. As PRTC continues with our regional branding efforts, it helps to have a partner like Spirit Airlines make discovery of new areas convenient.”
