Hotel Higgins Landing is an award winning eco resort located on beautiful and sparsely developed Stocking Island, Exuma, considered a "national treasure" of The Bahamas. The resort is accessed by boat only and is nestled into its pristine sea to lagoon location. On one side of the resort, guests can enjoy the shimmering sands of Silver Palms Beach, with "Higgins Landing Reef" just yards offshore. On the other side of the resort, is Turtle Lagoon. From this shore guests can bonefish or kayak, exploring other adjacent lagoons, "blue holes", underwater caves, mangrove ecosystems, and beaches.
Above all, there is privacy.
About
The resort is spread over several acres and is designated "hotel guests only". At any time there will be a maximum of only 12 guests. Each guest cottage has a spacious private deck and has been carefully sited to maximize views, privacy and ocean breezes. The resort also has a central dining building outdoor lounge overlooking Elizabeth Harbor and our Silver Palms Beach. In addition there is a "guests only" honor beach bar, a well stocked library and fitness equipment building. There is also a protected dock area for launching kayaks and docking boats.
Accommodations
Each cottage is an intimate retreat. The cottages are sited to make the most of their beautiful surroundings and all are just steps from our Silver Palms Beach or Turtle Lagoon. All cottages are naturally air conditioned with a combination of ceiling fans, numerous louvered windows, cool terra cotta tile floors and ocean breezes.
Each of the cottages is thoughtfully decorated with antiques and colorful fabrics; has a sundeck with chaises and dining table, one or two bedrooms and bathrooms. All have fully equipped kitchens to allow guests to free themselves from scheduled dining hours for breakfast and lunch. (Perfect for those who prefer to rise early and enjoy the sunrise, or sleep late and relax.)
Dining
Hotel Higgins Landing enjoys an outstanding reputation for providing some of the best food in the Bahamas. The candlelit dining room has been praised for its romantic ambiance. The evening begins with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres at the beach bar. This time and location presents guests with a wonderful photo opportunity; with sunset, harbor and palms in the setting.
The evening continues with dinner served by candlelight in the dining room, china, silver, linens and fresh flowers. Guests can have a quiet romantic table for two, or join with other guests and share their adventures of the day, getting to know fellow guests who come from a broad spectrum of backgrounds, countries and avenues of life.
Activities
We are also happy to arrange motor boat rentals, car rentals (Georgetown no roads on Stocking Island); bonefish guides, transportation to golf or spa treatments at Emerald Bay, deep sea fishing, just ask and we will see what we can do to make your vacation a great one.
