Sounion II Villa
Sandy Ground Estates, Jost Van Dyke
(284) 494-3391
At the eastern end of Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands the villa Sounion II has long been a notable marker for those sailing to Sandy Cay, Sandy Spit or Diamond Cay. Situated on a promontory at Sandy Ground Estates the original villa was one of the island's first vacation homes, completed in 1972. It has now been entirely rebuilt and once again welcomes guests. With over 200 feet of sea frontage, Sounion offers not only spectacular 230 degree views but also complete privacy.
From the villa a garden path leads directly to the estate's beach - 800 feet of white sand, shaded by palms and seagrape trees and protected offshore by an easily accessible and lively snorkeling reef. Instead of cruise ships, a stunning parade of sailboats and yachts completes this idyllic picture as they round the Sounion promontory throughout the day.
The villa consists of a large comfortably furnished living area with five double doors opening onto a 14-foot surrounding deck. There is a modern well-equipped kitchen with high end appliances, and an abundance of custom designed cabinetry. Beyond a small study alcove which has internet connection is the master bedroom with its own deck and a -bull's-eye view" of Sandy Cay. The spacious bath is well appointed and features an oversize double shower.
In the garden, just a few steps below an outdoor dining area, there is a second bedroom with en suite bath, a large private sun terrace and a 6 x 12 foot covered balcony - all facing the sea and a magnificent coral garden. This unit, with two full beds, has its own small refrigerator so that early risers may enjoy a light breakfast and watch the sunrise from their own balcony without disturbing guests upstairs - or late risers may rest peacefully.
The extensive gardens surrounding the villa offer a number of dramatic overlooks (but be aware some are dangerous for unsupervised children).
