  CUSTOMS
There are no customs in St Eustatius as it is a free port.

IMPORTING ANIMALS
You can temporarily import animals with a health certificate (dated within 10 days of your visit) and a record of inoculations, which must include a rabies shot received no more than 30 days prior to your visit. Parrots and pets from South and Central America are prohibited.

GETTING THERE
BY AIR
Flights arrive at Franklin Delano Roosevelt Airport (airport code EUX; tel 8-2620), which is about half a mile from Oranjestad. You cannot fly direct. Most flights go through Princess Juliana Airport (airport code SXM; tel 599/545-5757) located in Dutch St Maarten, where you catch a 15-minute Winair flight to St Eustatius.

BY CRUISE
Some small cruise ships, such as those operated by Windjammer Barefoot Cruises, call on the island.

GETTING AROUND
BY CAR
There are plenty of car rental agencies on the island. Roads are generally in good condition, but they are sometimes narrow. Watch out for animals along the side of the road, especially at night.

To rent a car you will need to you bring your valid driver's license from home or an international driver's permit

Driving is on the right. Turning right on a red light is prohibited. You must wear a seat belt, and motorcyclists must wear helmets.

BY TAXI
There is a taxi dispatch at the airport. There are no taxi meters as all rates are fixed. Verify the fare with the driver prior to departure. Island taxi tours are available in addition to standard taxi service.
