Cap Juluca Anguilla 2005 Gastronomic Program

Award-winning Cap Juluca, Anguilla pairs renowned chefs with the world's best wines.


Maundays Bay, Anguilla (August 27, 2004) - Following its very successful 2004 Gastronomic Celebration program, award-winning Cap Juluca, Anguilla, has set the 2005 schedule. This monthly event pairs renowned chefs with the world's best wines. Dinners are presented by the chefs and the winery owners and winemakers. In conjunction, a four-night Food and Wine Lovers Getaway is being offered. Participants for 2005 are:

* Jan. 8-9 - Wilo Benet, Pikayo, San Juan, PR; Viña Concha y Toro, Chile;
* Jan. 22-23 - Thierry Rautureau, Rover's, Seattle; Tom Shelton of Joseph Phelps, Napa Valley;
* Feb. 5-6 - Jean-Luc Brendel, Table du Gourmet, Alsace, France; Philippe Blanck of Domaine Paul Blanck, Alsace, with Serena Sutcliffe, M.W., Director, Wine Sales, Sotheby's and David Peppercorn, M.W., Decanter magazine;
* Mar. 5-6 - Kyle Ketchum, The Lark, West Bloomfield, MI; John Calmeyer, Stag's Leap, Napa Valley;
* Apr. 16-17 - Sandro Gamba, NoMi, Chicago; Jim Clendenen, Au Bon Climat, Santa Barbara, CA;
* May 14-15 - Nancy Silverton, Campanile, Los Angeles; Garen and Shari Staglin, Staglin Family Vineyard, Rutherford, CA;
* June 18-19 - Tom Gutow, The Castine Inn, Castine, ME; Delia Viader, Viader Vineyards, Napa Valley;
* July 16-17 - Marc Collins, Circa 1886, Charleston, SC;
* Aug. 27-28 - Augusto Schreiner, Augosto's, San Juan, PR;
* Oct. 30-31 - Laurent Manrique, Aqua, San Francisco and Las Vegas; Margaret Duckhorn of Duckhorn Vineyards, Napa Valley;
* Oct/Nov - Winery Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Bordeaux, (TBA)
* Nov. 19-20 - Craig C. Shelton, The Ryland Inn, Whitehouse, NJ; Carissa Chappeliet, Chappeliet Vineyards, St. Helena, CA; also, Archie McLaren, Chairman, Central Coast Wine Classic;
* Dec. 3-4 - George Reid, Pimms, Cap Juluca; Bob Linquist, Qupé Wine Cellars, Santa Barbara.

The program is coordinated by the hotel's Executive Chef, George Reid, and American Airlines and American Eagle are partners.

Cap Juluca's five day/four night Wine and Food Lovers Getaway plan includes beachfront accommodations for two; wine and hors d'oeuvres on arrival; two gala celebrated chef's dinners for two; two dinners for two at Cap Juluca's George's, Pimms or Kemia restaurants or from room service (beverages not included); half-day snorkeling trip to Little Bay Marine Preserve, including beverages; a gift bottle of wine; taxi transfers to and from the airport or the ferry; and 10% tax and 10% service charge for items in the program.

Getaway rates during 2005 range from $2,720-$6,025 per couple depending on time of year and type of accommodation. Guests can book any four nights inclusive of the weekend of the Gastronomic Experience. Noted chefs' dinners also can be booked independently of the Getaway.

Complimentary to all Cap Juluca guests is Continental breakfast daily; afternoon tea; all water sports, including water skiing; weekly tennis clinics; day and night tennis on three courts; golf at the aqua driving range and putting green (golf balls are an added charge); croquet; use of the fitness center; a nightly movie; horticultural tours; a bottle of Anguillian rum and mini-bar set up.

The hotel's three restaurants offer a choice of casual dining on the beach at George's; elegant and romantic dinners at Pimms; and lavish hors d'oeuvres in the Moroccan setting of Kemia. A wide variety of spa rituals is offered ranging from Holistic Aromatherapy Facials to Jamu Massages and the Juluca Ritual for Two.

Cap Juluca is a secluded, sophisticated and romantic 179 acre retreat with 58 spacious luxury rooms and junior suites, seven suites and six pool villas located in 18 very private white Moorish style two story beachfront villas. All rooms have ocean views and are air-conditioned. There is a junior Olympic sized swimming pool and a choice of two beaches: the white stretch of sand of Maundays Bay and Cove Bay, another 1.5-mile sandy beach.
