Freeport Grand Bahama resort undergoes $4 million refurbishment

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach Resort in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, The Bahamas, offers enhanced guest rooms, amenities, and dining options

Freeport, Grand Bahama (November 3, 2004) - The Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach, Grand Bahama Island’s only all-inclusive resort, is undergoing a $4 million refurbishment due to the effects of Hurricane Frances. The resort, which re-opens on December 18, 2004, will feature enhanced guest rooms and public areas, as well as a new restaurant and snack bar.

"We took careful consideration of the property enhancements to ensure that we provide our guests with the services and amenities that they desire in a setting that allows them to relax and rejuvenate," says Renzo Chiapello, general manager of the Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach.

All 276 rooms have been enhanced and refurbished, as well as the lobby and exterior grounds. The existing main bar has been converted into a lounge bar that will be open throughout the day and night. The resort has also added an a la carte Asian-themed restaurant, a snack bar located on the beach, and the Viva Tobacco & Rum store, a cigar and rum shop, featuring Caribbean goods.

Ideal for divers and families, the Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach is set amidst 26 acres of lush landscaping along a 1,200-foot private stretch of white sand beach in The Bahamas. The resort is conveniently located just fifteen minutes from Freeport International Airport and features 276 spacious ocean- and gardenview rooms. Room amenities include a king-size bed or two queen-size beds, air conditioning, color satellite TV, telephone, in-room safe and a private balcony.

Other facilities at Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach include a freshwater pool, a Jacuzzi, a free-standing building for the Viva Wyndham’s Kid’s Club, a children’s swimming pool, a 400-seat theater featuring a variety of entertainment options, a discotheque, a hospitality desk, a tour desk that arranges off-property excursions, sundry and souvenir shops, first-aid services, and laundry facilities.

Guests of the Viva Wyndham properties also enjoy Wyndham ByRequest, the brand’s guest recognition program. Guests may choose items from a variety of pre-selected categories that appear on the Wyndham ByRequest profile form, such as a welcome snack or a preferred type of wine.
