St Kitts to host Caribbean Gift and Craft Show 2006

Annual show will showcase authentic Caribbean artistry in September

Basseterre, St Kitts (March 20, 2006) – St Kitts will host the annual Caribbean Gift and Craft Show (CGCS) 2006 this fall, September 14-17. The event will be held at the St Kitts Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino.

The Caribbean Gift and Craft Show features Caribbean Fashion Rhythms, which is a project of the Caribbean Export Development Agency. Additionally, the show will feature an extensive array of authentic Caribbean products, including apparel, glassware, jewellery, woodcraft, leather crafts, specialty foods, art and more, all produced and handcrafted in the Caribbean.

The first two days will be dedicated to trade buyers. The event will open to the general public from 5pm on the second day.

The four-day show includes a business seminar for all registered participants, an opening ceremony, an exotic evening of Caribbean fashion entitled Creative Explosions, and the FirstCaribbean International Bank Best of Show Awards. More than 200 exhibitors from the Caribbean and at least 300 buyers from the US, UK, Canada and the Caribbean will be present this year.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome the Caribbean Gift and Craft Show to our shores this fall,” said Richard “Ricky” O Skerritt, Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture for St Kitts. “This is truly an important event that showcases the unique talents of various Caribbean artisans, including those from St Kitts & Nevis, and helps to support their business endeavors. In addition, it will bring hundreds of people to our twin island federation and give us the opportunity to highlight the diversity and strength of our distinctive tourism product while at the same time providing a positive impact to our local economy.”
