Magdalena Grand Beach Resort Set to Open in Tobago

Resort launch will add 200 rooms to this Caribbean island's accommodation offerings

Press Release 2011

SCARBOROUGH, Tobago (August 23, 2011) - The Magdalena Grand Beach Resort, poised to be Tobago's premier leisure and business resort, will open its doors in November 2011.

The 200-room oceanfront hotel will feature five fine and casual dining options, an 18-hole PGA-designed championship golf course, expansive beachfront, multiple swimming pools, generously sized and flexible meeting/event space and the newest spa on the island.

"The launch of the Magdalena Grand Beach Resort allows Tobago to increase its leisure, meetings and group travel opportunities," said e TecK's President Kelvin Mahabir. "This will revitalize all aspects of travel to Tobago and expand the island's overall awareness not only throughout the Caribbean, but in North America and Europe as well," he continued. "The hotel's brand identity is steeped in both historical and cultural significance. Christopher Columbus called Tobago ?La Magdalena' when he sighted it on his third voyage to the New World in the 15th century, and we are delighted to have this fine hotel carry a name with such historical magnitude."

The Magdalena Grand's idyllic seaside location will provide leisure guests with the opportunity of being mere footsteps away from one of the island's pristine powder-white sand beaches. For the active traveler, the resort will feature a full service water sport and dive shop, two lighted tennis courts and a well-equipped fitness center. Guests will also have the chance to sample varied cuisines from five different locations that range from poolside casual to fine dining.

"The Magdalena Grand will offer something for just about everyone - from leisure and meetings and incentive travel to destination weddings and honeymoons," said Nikolas Eastwick-Field, EFM Hospitality. "From our inclusive dining program to our amenities and offerings, our goal is to provide our guests with superior service, convenience and added value."

Road warriors can quickly get down to business - as the resort is a short 15-minute drive from A.N.R Robinson International Airport - either in the state-of-the-art business center or in the comfort of their Wi-Fi connected guest room. The Magdalena Grand will feature 5,000 square feet of meeting and event space that will include two meeting rooms and the largest ballroom on the island.

Tobago, sister island to Trinidad, is the quintessential Caribbean island with secluded beaches, quaint villages and award-winning eco-attractions that include the Main Ridge Rainforest, the oldest protected reserve in the western hemisphere. In addition to offering sun, sand, sea and diving, Tobago also provides many cultural, historical and ecological points of interest that appeal to visitors.
