  CUSTOMS
Adult visitors are allowed to bring in three litres of wine, beer OR liquor, AND 20 packs of cigarettes OR 25 cigars OR 200g of tobacco duty free.

IMPORTING ANIMALS
To import your dog or cat, upon entering Mexico you must provide a health certificate issued within 15 days of your departure from your home country and signed by a registered veterinarian stating your pet is free of contagious diseases. You must also provide a vaccination certificate specifying the animal has been vaccinated against rabies, hepatitis and distemper (if the animal is old enough).

GETTING THERE
BY AIR
Flights arrive at the Cancun International Airport/Aeropuerto Internacional Cancún (airport code CUN), from which you take a ferry to Isla Mujeres (see Getting there: By ferry, below). Flying time to Cancun is about 3 1/2 hours from New York, 4 1/2 hours from Los Angeles and 12 hours from London.?

BY FERRY
Various express ferries and water taxis/speed boats leave from Juárez Port and the Terminal Marítima de Gran Puerto Cancún, as well as from various docks in the Hotel Zone. A car ferry also operates from Punta Sam.

UltraMar operates air-conditioned ferries (tel 843-2011) between Cancun and Isla Mujeres numerous times daily between 5:30am and 12:30am. The trip takes about 15 minutes. The ferry has toilets on board and offers refreshments for sale. The round-trip fare costs about US$6 and the one-way fare costs about US$3, plus a 10% tax. Kids up to 1.2m in height ride free. You can also transport bicycles on this ferry line. Catch the ferry at Juárez Port.

GETTING AROUND
BY GOLF CART, SCOOTER AND BICYCLE
Isla Mujeres is small enough to get around on foot in the downtown area, although to see the whole island you?ll want to rent a golf cart, scooter or bicycle.

Driving is on the right. Alto means ?stop.? No-parking areas are indicated by a circle with a diagonal line superimposed on the letter ?E,? which stands for estacionamiento. One-way streets are common.

BY TAXI
A taxi stand is located next to the ferry dock, or you can call taxi dispatch at 877-0066. Taxis often pick up additional passengers until the vehicle is full.

Taxis do not have meters. Agree on a price before you get into the vehicle. Taxi tours are available in addition to standard taxi service.?

BY AIR
Isla Mujeres has a small airport (airport code ISJ) from which Aerosaab (tel 984/873-0804, Playa del Carmen) offers tours to Holbox Island, Chichen Itza, Merida and Uxmal.
